Announcing the FERGUS Worldwide DNA Project through Family Tree DNA
www.FamilyTreeDNA.com

FERGUS Worldwide DNA Project will help to estimate the number of different
ancestral lines to be found among FERGUS families worldwide.  There are more
than 20 FERGUS lineages represented in the FERGUS Family History Worldwide
Guest Book.  Some of these may be connected by genetics.  Hopefully this
project will begin to give all of us more information about out FERGUS
heritage.

Also,  this will help  to trace currently known & unknown FERGUS lineages to
common ancestors in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and to the English
colonies, past and present.  It has taken 5 years to uncover, transcribe,
and connect two of our Fergus mailing list subscribers to each other, and to
another cousin who was born in Canada and now is a U.S. citizen living in
Michigan.  One of the gentlemen lives in New Zealand and the other in
England.  Additionally, a former subscriber from Quebec is also one of their
cousins.

Their common ancestor, Samuel (SF1) FERGUS b. before 1790, possibly in Co
Armagh, Ulster Province, Ireland or it is possible that this Samuel was born
in Scotland.

My immigrant ancestor, Francis FERGUS, was b. 1752 in Co Tyrone, 20-40 miles
from where Samuel lived depending where in Co Armagh Samuel FERGUS lived.

There were VERY few, actually only a handful of FERGUS folk in Ireland
during this time period.  I have been wondering if perhaps they were all
related . . . a possibility.  But, having personally researched in
Ireland/Northern Ireland on 5 different trips over 5 years time I am
anxiously awaiting the test results from (Samuel) Douglas Robertson FERGUS -
our first participant - to compare with someone from my 'Francis FERGUS'
lineage.

The FERGUS Worldwide DNA Project will test for 25 markers at a reduced cost
to each participant of $169 vs. the regular price of $229.  Please visit the project
website to read about the 25 marker test and do take a look! The 25 Marker
Test will identify the most remote FERGUS ancestor match with others being
tested.
