Victoria Fergus

Victoria Fergus joined the WVU faculty in 1983. As an Associate Professor
in Art & Education, Dr. Fergus has over twenty-five years teaching
experience including K-12 and higher education. At the college level she has
taught art education for art majors, elementary and early childhood majors,
2D foundations, 3D foundations, ceramics, crafts, graphic design, drawing,
art for mainstreaming, graduate seminar, and art education graduate studies.
Supervision of student teachers and practicums, and coordinating academic
advising for a department of 300 majors has also been part of her many
responsibilities. Victoria also has experience in teaching museum based
outreach programs as well as having worked as an exhibition and display
consultant for another museum. She is a textbook content editor for
Prentice-Hall Publishers, and Harper Collins Publishers.
Dr. Fergus is a member of 12 professional organizations and the past
Higher Education Division Director on the Board of Directors of the National
Art Education Association (NAEA), 1999-2001. In the Spring 2001 after going
off the NAEA Board she was appointed the National Student Chapter Advisor
for NAEA. Victoria has served on over 28 university and 25 state and
national committees as well as juried art shows, craft exhibitions, and
student art shows. She also is a Title grants reviewer for the U.S.
Department of Education.
