Many of our ancestors were called to serve their fellow man in some capacity. Some were called to serve in the defense of our nation, others in defense of what they believed. Some sacrificed with their life, others their fortunes. Some were called to public office and serve their countrymen, while others were called by God to save their fellowman. The common thread among them all was their willingness to serve and sacrifice. Below are our direct line ancestors who answered the call to service. This page is a tribute to them.

Mr. Newell was a retired farmer, a veteran of World War 1 and member of American Legion Post 23 of Point Pleasant
 

Ira Virgil Hill
Virgil served as a private in CAS, Detachment 786, Dem Group 288, Military Police Company during World War I. He was in France when he received word that his wife Alma had died.

 

Howard Raymond Stewart
Howard was drafted into the U.S. Army on March 5, 1918 and served in Base Hospital 117 and 214 while in France during World War I. He was discharged from the military on August 26, 1919.
