This is a site dedicated to the research and search for the ancestors of Opal Fay Elder (Newell). So far the search has taken me to John Newell (born `789) of Mason County, Virginia. Most of the family until recently had stayed in Mason County and at the turn of the 20th Century, some migrated to Ohio. There seems to be, now, that the Newell's and their kin are in most of the surrounding states of West Virginia There are three Newell lines in Mason County; John Newell (b. 1789), Jacob Newell (B. 1792) and James Newell (B. before 1794). I am thinking that these three Newell boys are brothers but can not confirm that at this time.
