Letter from Jeff E. Tomlin to Wm. L. White, Feb., 1922 I will tell you that Bill Brnayon was killed at Gettysburg near the middle of the first day of July. We started in line of battle. He was commanding the Company. I was next to him. A ball hit him about the brest and he fell backward and said "O'Lordy". I think he died soon after he fell to the ground. One of the boys got hit in the hand soon afterward and went back to him and he was dead when he got to him. He got his watch out of his pocket and sent it to his wife. I heard he was a good officer. I thought a heap of Branyon. Letter courtesy of descendant Jonathan M. White (Company H) |
