C. Woodard shown in Swift Creek Twp. was Christopher Woodard, great-grandson of the earliest Christopher Woodward. He traces back through his father Christopher Woodward and grandfather Pleasants Woodward. This line eventually dropped the second W.

Notice that there is no other pond on Brazel Creek south of Clement's Mill (once Woodward's mill) where Mills' Pond (now called Bass Lake) can be found on later maps. There was only one mill and pond in this area until after 1870.
