The Reverend OTIS CONVERSE
  
According to the book, Some of the Ancestors and Descendants of Samuel Converse, Jr, Volume 1 p. 117, Otis Converse (# 655) was born on December 4, 1796 in Spencer, MA.    the son of Reuben and Pamela Stevens and one of several siblings, of whom 6 were born in Spencer, 3 in Leicester. This information is said to come from the Spencer MA vital records.
  
1811 in Leicester, a reference to a guardianship; he would have been 15.
  
1822 In November was appointed to the Baptist church in Grafton as supply.
  
1823 Was ordained as regular pastor of the Baptist Church on June 25, 1823.
  
1825 11/5/1825: birth of Otis Converse Fay in Grafton
  
1826 While pastor in Grafton, also preached in what would become the Second Baptist Church.
  
1836 Resigned his pastorate in Grafton on March 31, 1836.
  
1836 November 9, 1836: attended a council to recognize the new Second Baptist Church. Came as a delegate from Westborough and participated in the actual services.
  
1840 in Grafton for census.
  
1840 in Sutton, where he was pastor of the Baptist Church (part of the Worcester association)(History of the town of Sutton, Massachusetts, p. 465). He was replaced in 1842.
  
1850 in Worcester, 7th ward for census; he is called a 'merchant'. Is this really the same man? The age is right.
  
1860 Census has an Otis Converse in Brookfield.

1874 Died December 1, 1874. He was buried in the Old Oak Street Burial Ground in Grafton. His grave is listed in Susan Salisbury's "Southern Massachusetts Cemetery Collection" (see image 5 of 7) (selection below).
