Charles F. Fay, Jr., 81, Olathe, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at the Homestead of Olathe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007, at the Cathedral of St. Peter, KCK. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call 4:30-8 p.m. Friday at Joseph A Butler and Son Funeral Home, 19th and Minnesota Ave., KCK, where the rosary will be said at 5 p.m. A nondenominational prayer service will be at 6 p.m. The family suggests memorials to Grace Hospice, 9200 Ward Pkwy., KCMO 64114 or to St. Peter's, 422 N. 14th, KCK 66102. Mr. Fay was born in KCK. He was a 1943 graduate of Bishop Ward H.S. and attended Kansas City, Kansas Junior College. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. Mr. Fay retired in 1983 as Deputy Chief of the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department. He was a former president of Local # 64 I.A.F.F. Mr. Fay was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine A. Fay, in 1994, his parents, Charles and Mabel J. Fay, as well as his grandparents, Charlie E. and Margaret "Maggie" Orr and Matthew B. and Margaret "Maggie" Fay and in 1943, by his sister, Florence Fay. He leaves two daughters, Janet (Paul) Gripka, Tonganoxie, Kan., and Joyce Bacon, Olathe, Kan.; a sister, Margaret Fay, Leawood, Kan.; six grandchildren, Ben and David Gripka, Emily and Maggie Gripka, Nicole Bacon Plummer and Tonya Bacon and two great grandchildren, Hannah and Seth Plummer.
