LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
   
In the Name of God Amen
   
I Ambrose Ford a farmer of the Township of Pierpont County of Ashtabula and State of Ohio being of Sound Mind and Memory do make publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following to wit:
First;
I resign my Soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping and believing in a remission of my sins by the Merits and Mediation of Jesus Christ. And my body I commit to the earth to be buried at the discretion of my friends.
And my worldly estate after all my just debts are paid I give and devise as follows to wit:
The residue of my estate both real and personal I give bequeath and dispose of as follows:
To my beloved wife Finelia Ford in Lieu of her dower estate all of my personal estate.
And also to her my said wife the use of all the following described real Estate, Situated in the Township of Pierpont County of Ashtabula State of Ohio Range one Township No.11. part of lot No. twenty eight (28) in the Connecticut Western Reserve and Bounded and described as follows to wit: On the South by the original lot line On the West and East by original lot lines and on the north by Lands of E. B. Ford Excepting and reserving therefrom three acres of Land owned by Sullivan and Phillips and to contain One hundred and Sixty (160) acres of Land be the Same more or less during my said wife's natural life.
After the death of my said wife the heirs of my daughter Susan Dible is to have the sum of two hundred (200) dollars to be equally divided between them.
   
The heirs of my daughter Sylvia Bennett is to have the sum of two hundred (200) dollars to be equally divided between them.
   
My son E. B. Ford is to have the sum of two hundred (200) dollars.
My daughter Emma Fifillo is to have the sum of two hundred (200) dollars.
In case my daughter Abby Miller should come to actual want she to have the sum of two hundred (200) dollars or so much thereof as would be necessary for her actual comfort and the same to be held controled and paid to her as my son John A. Ford's better judment [sic] may dictate and in Case my said daughter Abby Miller should have any lawful heirs of her body then and in that case the said two hundred (200) dollars or any fraction thereof with the interest accruing thereon to go to such heirs; after the death of my said daughter Abby without issue then said two hundred (200) dollars or any portion thereof remaining unexpended for her actual Benefit to be equally divided between the rest of my legal heirs.
My daughter Amanda Fay to have the sum of two hundred (200) dollars.
My daughter Maria Peabody to have the sum of two hundred (200) dollars.
   
My son Ambrose Ford to have the sum of two hundred (200) dollars.
After the death of my said wife the balance of my property, both real and personal, I give and devise in the following manner
to my sons Mark L. Ford, John A. Ford and George C. Ford in equal proportions.
   
Likewise I make constitute and appoint M. A. Leonard of Pierpont Ohio to be Executor of this my last will and testament hereby authorizing and empowering him to compromise and adjust release and discharge in such manner as he may deem proper the debts and claims due and I also empower him if it shall become necessary in order to pay my debts to sell at private sale or in such manner upon such terms of credit or otherwise as he may think proper all or any part of my real estate and deeds to purchasers to execute acknowledge and deliver in fee simple. I desire that no appraisement and no sale be made of Personal property and that the Court of Probate direct the omission of the same in pursuance of the Statute.
   
I do hereby revoke all former wills by me made.
In testimony hereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 22nd day of March A.D.1861.
