1. Alvah Fay
The material in this file comes from Floy Fletcher. I received a xeroxcopy from Susan Montieth in September 2002.
They lived over the line in Canada, 60 miles East of Montreal and wtihin15 miles of the Vermont State line, where the older children were rearedon a farm until 1853 when the father, mother, Nathan and the youngerchildren moved to Wisconsin, then later to Minnesota. All the childrenwere born in Canada. We know Augusta lived in South Dakota with Alberther last years.
Several of the children's year of birth are estimated from a 1851 censusrecord of Missisquois County, Dunham Twn, East Canada record.
In the 1870 census from Freeborn Co, Minn, it shows Nathan Ellis age 81and Hannah Ellis age 57 living with the above family. Another census(1880) states Hannah is an Aunt. We wonder if Nathan might have beenAugusta's father, and Hannah her sister. We do not know when or whereAlvah died. We have a picture and news clipping of Augusta's death, andgrave marker.
Note that in 1880 when Hannah is "aunt", she is living with Walford N.That would mean she WAS Augusta's sister. She would have been born about1813.
3. Metilda Fay
She was born in Canada - Did not move to Wisconsin with the family, evidently married there.
7. William Fay
Found on various census records but nothing more.
11. Emogene M. Fay
All the census says is that she does housework. Was living in 1870, and20 years old, according to that census for Carlston, Freeborn Co, MN.
