He was buried at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Adams County, Nebraska.2

Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings and one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Mr. Whitcomb was born Sept. 17, 1913, to C. Levi and Julia (Swanson) Whitcomb in Spring Ranch. He attended Prairie Rose District 4 school in Clay County and Pauline High School District 8 in Adams County. In the 1930s, he served in the U.S. National Guard as a supply sergeant in the Ambulance Corps, 110th Medical Regiment, Company F, 2nd Battalion in Hastings. On Dec. 2, 1939, he married Audrey Fate. He was a farmer on the family farm.
He was a former member of Pauline Methodist Church and a member of First United Methodist Church in Hastings. Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Beverly Burchess of Lincoln and Carol Laux of Hastings; one sister, Bernice Catsinas of Lincoln; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Carl Dean, and two brothers. Memorials may be given to the Nebraska Children’s Home in Omaha or the church.
