She was united in marriage to Charles Fate on January 20, 1916. To this union ten children were born, four of whom died in infancy. Della is survived by six children: Merton of Danville Illinois; Arthur of Lavaco, Arkansas; Cleo Flesner of Sutton Nebraska; Clevia Barton of Omaha, Nebraska; Neva Faber of Sapparo, Japan; and Phyllis Gavin of Clay Center; twenty-two grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother: Walter Hoyt of Hastings, Nebraska; five sisters: Betty vonSpreckelsen and Eva McNinch of Clay Center; Priscilla Wood of Hillsboro, Oregon; Sarah Denny of maryville, Washington; and Linda Biggs of Ashland City, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, four infant sonse, two brothers and two sisters. Della was baptized into Christ at the Fairfield Christian Church. Funeral services were conducted by the McLaughlin Funeral Home at the Christian Church in Clay Center on Sunday, December 1, 1974, with Pastor Don Burkum officiating. Internment was in the Clay Center cemetery. Mrs. James Flesnes, soloist, sand two numbers, "How Great Thou Art" and "Just a Closer Walk With three" with Mrs. Lawrence Harms, organist. Pallbearers were Bert Von Spreckelsen, Bob Von Spreckelsen, Warren Deweese, Dale Livgren, Harold Briggs and Jesse Barnes.
