These detailed maps come from the Dennis Griffith map of Maryland in the Library of Congress Map Collection... it's an amazing and beautiful piece of workmanship for its day. The inline maps here are JPEGs approximately 250K in size and have been resized to just under 800 pixels wide. If you click on the links located after the maps, you will load the same county but at much greater resolution. This second map is bigger when printed out and you may find it easier to read. ...it's probably a good idea to use your browser's "Download Link to Disk" command on this second link as the files are 1-2MB in size.
