By 1660, Edward had become the proprietor of nearly 11 acres in what is presently downtown Newburyport, with one house on Ordway Lane, now Market Street (on or near the site of the present YWCA), and another house on Greenleaf's Lane (now State Street) on property which ran southeastward to Chandler's Lane (now Federal Street; See Currier, Ould Newbury, pages 119, 142, 146).
