Daniel Richardson lived most of his life in Newbury, where he was a carpenter and housewright. All his children were born there according to the Newbury VR's. His older brother William had inherited the family home, after the death of their parents. (See Joseph's will.) William died unmarried and intestate in 1743. His brothers and sisters each inherited an equal share in the family home. Daniel bought his brothers' and sisters' shares, except for a token share retained by his brother, Joseph, so we can presume that Daniel lived there after 1743 (Essex Deeds v114, pp52-53).
In 1761, Daniel married Lydia Mireck, widow of Joseph Mireck (Newbury 2, 330). Between 1761 and 1764, he sold several plots of land in West Newbury, and on February 10, 1763 bought 50 acres of land in Methuen next to the land of his youngest brother, Caleb (Essex Deeds v114, p52), who was also a carpenter.
It is interesting to note that Caleb had previously bought land from Joseph Mireck.
The 1771 tax list showed that Daniel still owned about thirty acres of land in Methuen, though he was not polls ratable.
In 1773 Daniel sold most if not all of his land in Methuen (Essex Deeds v133, p163), and there seems to be no record of where he spent his last days. He may have followed his son, Stephen, to Dracut, since his will was filed in Middlesex County. This will is missing from the docket, however, and Middlesex probate records give no indication that it was ever proved.
