On September 24, 1730, Caleb Richardson bought 39.5 acres of land in Methuen from Zebediyah Astin for 148 pounds in bills of credit. The land was bounded by the highway and by property of William Gutterson, and Stephen Barker (Essex Deeds v64, p13), and appears to have been near land purchased in 1722 by his brother Thomas (Essex Deeds v40, p139). He later bought additional land in Methuen from Joseph Merrek (Essex Deeds v96, p278 recorded September 25, 1752). This latter deed indicates that Caleb was a carpenter.
On April 10, 1764, Caleb sold three acres of this land to his son Parker, and on May 16, 1764 gave him an unapecified area probably of the same land. On March 27, 1770, Daniel Richardson sold to Parker three acres plus a right of way through his land to Caleb Richardson's adjoining land. (Essex Deeds v128, pp169-170)
