1. Archibold Heffington. Born in 1754. Archibold died in Lauderdale, Alabama in 1837, he was 83.

Lived next door to Mary McBride in 1830 census for Wayne Co., TN In the book by Dellmar andElam Heffington - Heffington 1874- 1998 he states the Heffington family migrated from England. He lists Archibold as an Uncle to Henry and David.

2. David Heffington. Born in 1777 in Nansemond, Virginia. David died in White, Arkansas in 1858, he was 81.

David Heffington left KY about 1818 to Lauderdale Co, Alabama-sold out in 1829, moved to Independence Co., Ar. 1830. Paid taxes there & Jackson Co. 1830-1842. Some of the family later was in Faulkner & Conway, Arkansas. 1830 census, Christian Twp., Independence ., AR. 1840 census, Jackson Co., AR. 1843 Tax poll, Enola Twp., Conway, AR 1850 census , Benton Twp., Conway Co. (now Faulkner Co.), Ar. David Heffington was living with the James Craig family, household #272. (This would be the family of his daughterLevina); Henry Heffington and Levina (Overtuf) in household #275, Thomas Heffington and Susannah (Smith) in household #276, Stephen Heffington and Laurana (Campbell) in house hold #Unreadable, all in Benton Twp. 1810 census, Warren Co., Ky. 1800 census, Logan Co., KY. Faulkner Facts and Fiddlings, published by Faulkner Co. His., Soc. , Vol XIX, Summer 1977, No. 2., pages 23-42 Marriage record of Thomas Heffington to Susannah Smith.

In 1799 when David was 22, he married Dorothy Lowe, in Warren, Kentucky. Born on 14 Feb 1780 in South Carolina. Dorothy died in Arkansas.

Parents William Low, Rev. War Soldier and Margaret Fair/Farr.They came to Independence Co., AR 1829/30 Step -mother: Lucinda Wilson.

They had the following children:

ii. William Lowe. Born aft 1799 in Warren, Kentucky. William Lowe died in Batesville, Independence, Arkansas in 1838, he was 39.

iii. Joseph. Born aft 1799. Joseph died.
4 iv. Barnabus Fair (1803-)
v. Thomas David. Born in 1808 in Warren, Kentucky. Thomas David died in White, Arkansas in 1852, he was 44. Buried in Heffington Cmtry, Enola, Arkansas.

In 1850 census, he was in Benton Twp., Conway Co. (now FaulknerCo.), Ar. Household # 276. Note this family connects to the Harrelson family through Susannah' s parents.

On 1 Dec 1825 when Thomas David was 17, he married Susanah Smith, daughter of Dutton Smith & Sarah Harrelson, in Lauderdale, Alabama. Born in 1810 in Maury, Tennessee. Susanah died.

vii. Stephen Decatur. Born on 9 Jan 1809 in Warren, Kentucky. Stephen Decatur died in Travis, Texas on 6 Jan 1885, he was 75. Buried in Allen-McNeill cm, Travis, Texas.

Married Laurana Campbell 1842/43 in Arkansas or Missouri. In1850 census, he was in Benton Twp., Conway Co. (now FaulknerCo.), Ar. Household # is unreadable .

Stephen Decatur married Laurana Campbell. Born on 5 Feb 1822 in Tennessee. Laurana died in Texas on 4 Dec 1898, she was 76.
viii. Nancy. Born in 1810 in Warren, Kentucky. Nancy died in 1880, she was 70.

Married Brazeal Gibbs 13 Feb 1834 in Jackson County, Arkansas

On 13 Feb 1834 when Nancy was 24, she married Brazeal Gibbs, in Independence, Arkansas. Born abt 1805. Brazeal died.
ix. Agnes. Born on 18 Jan 1813 in Logan, Kentucky. Agnes died in Independence, Arkansas in 1863, she was 49.

Married Elish Garrett c1830

Agnes married Elisha Garrett. Born abt 1810. Elisha died.

Could he be a brother to Martha who married Barney Heffington?
x. Mary Ann. Born in 1815. Mary Ann died in Arkansas in 1880, she was 65.

In Feb 1834 when Mary Ann was 19, she married John Gibbs, in Independence, Arkansas. Born abt 1810. John died.
xi. Levina. Born in 1819 in Georgia. Levina died.

In 1850 census, she was in Benton Twp., Conway Co. (now Faulkner Co.), Ar. Household # 272. David was in household with her. Dorothy isn't listed.

Levina married James M. Craig. Born abt 1815. James M. died.
xii. John. Born in 1820 in Warren, Kentucky. John died in Van Buren, Arkansas in 1849, he was 29.

Married Rachel Lisenbury (born 1818 in Illinois) 11 Sep 1836 in Independence County, Arkansas. Rachel was in Van Buren County in 1850 and 1860 as a widow. Possible divorce between John and Levina.

On 9 Apr 1832 when John was 12, he first married Levina Smith, daughter of Dutton Smith & Sarah Harrelson. Born in 1818. Levina died in Cass, Franklin, Arkansas in 1889, she was 71.

On 11 Sep 1836 when John was 16, he second married Rachel Lisinbury, in Independence, Arkansas. Born in 1818 in Illinois. Rachel died.

Rachel was in Van Buren County in 1850 and 1860 as a widow.

3. Margaret Heffington. Born aft 1799 in Warren, Kentucky. Margaret died.

Has to have died in or before 1845 because James & Lucinda married in 1845.

On 27 Jan 1824 when Margaret was 25, she married James P. McBride, son of James McBride & Mary Harrelson, in Lauderdale, Alabama. Born in 1802 in Kentucky. James P. died in 1859, he was 57.

Moved to Jackson, Tennessee, came to Arkansas in 1834/35 In 1850 Census but none later. Was Justice of Peace in Independence County Arkansas in 1830, Justice of Peace in Yell County Arkansas prior to 1845. Source History of Yell Co, Ark. by Wayne Banks. Listed in Early Settlers 1841 along with Hugh McBride. Married Lucinda Wilson in 1845 in Yell Co. Andrew Jackson McBride married Lucinda after James died. He was a gunsmith. County marriage book A lists marriage to Lucinda Wilson as 30 July 1845 (Bit s &!Pieces) Lived in Lawrence Co. TN in 1820 & perhaps Wayne or Dearborn Co IN in 1830. Bought land in Yell County in 1845/05/01 Married by John C.Parker Old A-69 10 May 1826, Old Book A, page 236, Entry No. 1764. James McBride enters 25 acres under the law of 1826 on Big Shoal Creek. 4. Barnabus Fair Heffington. Born in 1803 in Warren, Kentucky. Barnabus Fair died in Jackson, Arkansas.

On 28 Nov 1825 when Barnabus Fair was 22, he married Nancy Martha Garrett, in Lauderdale, Alabama. Born abt 1808. Nancy Martha died.

5. Henry Heffington. Born in 1808 in Warren, Kentucky. Henry died.

Married Levina Smith (born 1818) in 1834/35 in Arkansas. Was State Legislature for Montgomery Co Arkansas 1856-60. Family history has that this is the Heffington that fathered Wild Bill(William Jasper Heffington)in 1830 (See Research Notes for update). In 1850 census, he was in Benton Twp.,Conway Co. (now Faulkner Co.), Ar. Household # 275

Henry first married Levina Smith, daughter of Dutton Smith & Sarah Harrelson, in Arkansas. Born in 1818. Levina died in Cass, Franklin, Arkansas in 1889, she was 71. Henry never married Louisa McBride, daughter of James McBride & Mary Harrelson. Born on 27 Jan 1812 in Hardeman, Tennessee. He fathered her five illegitimate children before marrying Levina Smith however. Louisa died in Waveland, Yell, Arkansas on 1 Jan 1894, she was 81.

Research Notes: In papers found that were given to my father, Theodore Farmer in 1971, original genealogy on Heffington family. In the papers, there is a statement of the following: Information from Aristobulus Heffington, son of William Jasper (McBride) Heffington, shipyard worker in San Francisco, CA. in December of 1944. He states: "Henry Heffington of Yell County, Arkansas was the father of Wm. "Wild Bill" Heffington born about 1830 and died 1863." The Heffington charts with info contained herin were prepared by one Elam Heffington on October 12, 1944. I would also like to note, that Henry Heffington and Louisa McBride were never married, they had five children together out of wedlock.

Most of material from book "Candid Shots of Shotts" by Melba Shott Barrick. Had 5 illegitimate children before she married Hugh Shott. Marriage license issued 1 Feb 1843, date of marriage was 3 Feb 1843 - Source Hardeman Co., TN Marriages 1823-1861. Source for place of burial: Yell County Cem. Vol II 1994 Hugh Shott b 1820 married Louisa McBride b. Jan 271812/1815 on Feb 3, 1843 in Hardeman Co ., TN by Wm. Powell, J. P. Alan Hoyt (another source has Boyt) , Bondsman Source."Hardeman Co. Marriages by Quinnie Armour) Sondra Jones has she died at "The Baker Place" which is in Waveland, Yell, AR.. Her head stone reads: "She has gone to that bright land of lovewhere death and sickness never come."
