Served in the Dardanelles during World War 1 as a farrier. Worked at the Tar Works at Barmby Dun in 1927, then moved to Manchester to work for Walton Curtis (my mother's father) in his market/landscape gardening business. Lived in Stanley Street, Moss Side close to Grandad's florist shop opposite Alexander Park gates. Moved to Wythenshawe, 125 Broadoak Road, Brownley Green and worked for Threlfalls Brewery as a greensman, maintaining bowling greens at the public houses owned by the group. Collapsed and died on my birthday, whilst working.
