BIOGRAPHY: Col John was English. Came to Pennsylvania from Ireland in the 1730's. After a few years he movedhis family to the Shenandoah Valley, probablly some of eh earliest white settlers in the area. Col. John had a military career in the French and Indian Wars and was active in colonial politics and the militia.
1632. Johannes Schumacher KOLB
Johannes came to America in 1707 with his brothers Martin and Jacob and settled 1709 in Skippack, Montgomery Co., PA and then moved to the PeeDee River area of SC after 1734. Received a grant of 650 acres in the Causeway Neck of the Welsh tract there in 1737. Also owned land in Coventry Co.
OCCUPATION: Weaver and farmer. Lived in Bebber's Twp. in 1709.
