Mailing ListsTo receive Messages from Familysearch-L you must be a "subscriber" to the list. There is a lot of "techie" stuff involved here but all you need to know is how to actually get on the list and what Mode you want to receive it in. "MODE" there's another "techie" word. Just think of it as deciding how you want your mail delivered. List Mode means that each piece of mail is forwarded to your address each time it is written. The delay here is usually less than 3 minutes unless the web decides to take it's time about connecting. For all practical purposes Familysearch-L delivers each message as it is mailed. Digest Mode means that your mail is saved and allowed to accumulate before being sent to you. Familysearch-D is programmed to group mail into bunches of about 10 messages or every 18 hours if the digest isn't full. (this is determined by the size of the messages posted) Ok so now you know how you want your mail delivered. How do you start?You need to tell the Rootsweb computer to start your subscription. There is a link below for both modes. Just click on the link and make sure your letter contains the single command SUBSCRIBE in the subject line and the body of the letter. Don't add any signatures or other text that might confuse the Rootsweb Computer (We all know how touchy they can be) the one word command will do the trick.
