Robert Melvin WOOD (a/k/a Robert Melvin Cox WOOD) was married three times – to Mary Ann BAKER* in 1866; to Chloe E. (MORTON) MOORE** in 1876; and to Judith Ann (DAVIS) BROOKS in 1899. He had 12 children. Mary A. BAKER was the mother of the first five. Chloe MOORE was the mother of seven.

Webmaster's Note: Robert Melvin WOOD was the son of John Judge WOOD and Arminda Newberry SHOCKLEY. He was b. 10 May 1840 in Hall Co., GA; d. 24 Apr 1921 in Morgan Mill, Erath Co., TX; bur. Morgan Mill Cemetery. Robert lived in the Rock Church community for several years before drifting west into Erath County in the late 1870s. His last marriage was to the widow of Christopher Columbus BROOKS (a former Rock Church neighbor), 18 Jan 1899 in Erath County. The WOOD and BROOKS families were founding members of the Methodist Episcopal church in what was then Morgan's Mill in 1890.
