Citizens of the Rock Church
community
and surrounding areas
donated the funds
to erect this little country
church about 1906. According to Janet Saltsgiver, the magnificent
steeple was struck by lightning sometime after this photo was
taken. "Rather than replace it," said Saltsgiver, "the church
family at that time decided to cap it off, and make it less a target
for lightning to strike twice in the same place." The resulting
repair work left the structure looking as it does
today.
