A graveside service was at 2 p.m. Thursday at Williams-Southside Memorial Park for Melvin Jesse Morgan, 82, Southside, who died on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Rev. David Denson officiated. Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory directed.
Mr. Morgan was a member of the Teamsters Union and a member of Cedar Bend Lodge No. 583.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Cora Morgan; sister, Florence Silvey; and brother, Paul Morgan.
Survivors are his wife, Betty Amberson Morgan, Southside; daughters, Patsy (Steve) Snyder, Gadsden, Cathy (Hiram) Stephens, Eufaula, Darlene Conner, Huntsville, and Jennie (Mike) Condit, Ohatchee; sons, Jim (Stefanie) Morgan, Gadsden, and Tim (Lynn) Morgan, Rainbow City; grandchildren, Brent (Lisa) Stephens, Todd (Vickie) Stephens, Carrie (Billy) Savilla, Scott (Amy) Snyder, Susan (Steve) Stough, Simon Snyder, Ryan Conner, Phillip Conner, Anna Conner, Ben Hudgins, Spencer Hudgins and Chad Morgan; and great-grandchildren, Meagan, Jake, Sarah and Luke Stephens, Emma Stough Colby and Eva Savilla.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Thomas Corley, Bill Reeves, Mickey Stephens, George Silvey, Jeff Hudgins, E.H. Payne, Lawley Hospice nurses and employees, Kelly Ursy, Kelly Rampey, Tammy Cox and caregivers, the Rev. Hershel Byers, Kristy Huff and Brandy Harel.
