The Brock's
This is Rufus Marion Brock. He was born and raised in Alabama. The Brock family were farmers, but Rufus had no interest in
farming. So he moved his family north to Jackson County, Indiana. He hired on to Arvin Industries in Alabama and was sent to work in the new
plant in Seymour, Indiana, where he worked until his retirement. He died in Indiana and was buried in Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.
They had never seen snow before until they moved north. I have heard many amusing stories about how they suffered by not having suitable clothing for the cold. It took them a while to aclimate.
I have traced the Brock family back to South Carolina where I have hit a brick wall. The moved into McMinn County, Tennessee and remained there for a time. Rufus' father, Patrick Henry, moved his family into the Sand Mountain area of Alabama. Much of the family is still in Alabama.
