Berniece A. Gerth
Dec. 27, 1917 – Aug. 8, 2007Berniece A. Gerth, 89, Seymour, passed away at 8.55 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.
Mrs. Gerth was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. She was the owner and operator of Gerth’s Cafe since 1932. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
Born Dec. 27, 1917, in Reddington, she was a daughter of Benjamin and Susan Stanfield Brooks, both of whom preceded her in death. On May 22, 1936, she married Oscar F. Gerth, who preceded her death in 1949.
Survivors include two sons, Oscar M. (Diane) Gerth, Columbus, and Thomas J. Gerth, Seymour; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Gerth, Tennessee; a brother, Harry (Edna) Brooks, Michigan; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Gerth; two sisters, Sarah Ellen Coker and Bertha Lawson; and a brother, Oscar Brooks.
Father Todd Goodson will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.
