On this page you’ll find links that I’ve found to be useful, or that I have great hopes of in the future, as I gather more leads on my family’s history. |

Searchable databases:
- FamilySearch Internet Genealogy - the LDS web site where you can search through the IGI files (based on vital records) and through records generated by other researchers (Ancestral Files); I’ve found the 1880 Census extracts to be fantastic!
- U. S. Web Genealogy
- Ancestry.com - although many of the databases require that you be a paid subscriber, there are still many reasons to visit this site.
- RootsWeb Surname List - a nice way to locate others researching the same surnames as you; I’ve listed most of my primary names here
- GeneaNet - another site I haven’t fully explored yet, but looks to have promise
Global Tree at GenCircles - I’m not usually into sites where people post their Gedcoms for a couple of reasons: 1) Mistakes, including my own, might get reproduced until they’re accepted as fact; 2) Companies publish the trees with no verification and no choice on the creator’s part. GenCircles’ privacy statement reassured me on the second point, and the cool SmartLink feature overcame my first objection for now.- Lives, the Biography Resource
- CensusDiggins - tons of links to online databases
- Ancestry and Genealogy at MyTrees.com - associated with Kindred Konnections; extract records in return for database access
- Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild - this is where I found the ship that Fred CORDES and Francis SCHNEIKER came to America on
