A brief family history of the ancestors of Geneva Campbell. This is by no means complete, but will serve as a starting place until I develop a more practical way of presenting the information.

Geneva CAMPBELL was born on Aug 3, 1902. She died in Liberty, Missouri on Oct 26, 1987, when she was 85. She is buried in Cameron Memory Garden Cemetery, Kidder, Caldwell Co., Missouri.  In Stories there is a copy of a letter she sent with her family information.

On Aug 3, 1921 when Geneva was 19, she married Oliver Franklin Century MILLER,in Clinton Co., Missouri.

They had three children.

Geneva CAMPBELL’s parents:

James Marion CAMPBELL was born on May 8, 1867 in Buchanan Co., Missouri.  In the Shoal, Clinton Co., Missouri 1880 census he lived with his parents and worked on the farm.  He died in 1946, when he was 78. He is buried with his wife in Durango Cemetery, Durango, La Plata Co., Colorado.

On Feb 10, 1897 when he was 29, he married Mary Caroline (Carrie?) SEATON.  She was born on Oct 18, 1871 in Missouri. In the 1880 Lathrop, Clinton Co., Missouri census she lived with her parents.

James Marion CAMPBELL’s parents:

John Henry CAMPBELL was born on Dec 5, 1841 in Andrew Co., Missouri.  He was head of household on the 1880 census of Shoal, Clinton Co., Missouri, with his wife and nine children.  He died in St. Joseph, Missouri on Nov 1, 1906 when he was 64.  Occupation:  Farmer

On Dec 25, 1864 when he was 23, he married Jane (Martha) FOSTER, in McDonough Co., Illinois.  She was born on May 3, 1838 in Illinois. She died in Albany Township, Gentry Co. Missouri on Sep 8, 1905, when she was 67, and is buried in DeKalb Cemetery, Agency Township, Buchanan Co., Missouri.

Mary Caroline SEATON’s parents:

Rev. John Russum SEATON was born on Feb 22, 1832, probably in Tennessee.  He was head of household in the Lathrop, Clinton Co., Missouri 1880 census.  The rest of the household was his wife and six of his children.  He died in Clinton Co., Missouri on Sep 15, 1908, when he was 76. He and his wife are buried in Deer Creek Cemetery, Turney, Clinton Co., Missouri.  Occupation:  farmer

On Dec 20, 1855 when John Russum was 23, he married Elizabeth Jane ROBERTS, in Clinton Co., Missouri.  She was born on Feb 22, 1839 in Randolph, Caldwell Co., Missouri. She died on Jul 19, 1910, when she was 71.

James Marion CAMPBELL was born on Dec 27, 1817 in Pulaski Co., Kentucky. In the 1880 census of Agency, Buchanan Co., Missouri he is the head of household, his wife keeping house and his three youngest sons living with him.  He died in Agency, Buchanan Co., Missouri on Nov 8, 1896, when he was 78.  Occupation:  Farmer

On Mar 26, 1841 when when he was 23, he married Martha PEMBERTON, in McDonough Co., Illinois.  She was born on Oct 14, 1821 in Campbellville, Green Co., Kentucky.

Jane FOSTER’s parents:

John J. FOSTER was born on Sep 12, 1793 in Maryland. He died on Oct 8, 1861, when he was 68. He and his wife are buried in Scott's Methodist Church Cemetery, Bethel Township, McDonough Co., Illinois. Occupation:  Farmer

Frederick Levi FOSTER, born about 1792, was probably John’s brother.  Family legend has it that he was a cousin to the father of Stephen Collins Foster, the composer of “Oh, Susanna”.

On Feb 14, 1822 when he was 28, he married Frances “Fanny” HENDRICKSON, in Harrison Co., Ohio.  She was born on Sep 27, 1800 in Pennsylvania. She  died on Jan 21, 1858, when she was 57.

John Russum SEATON’s parents:

Solomon SEATON was born on Jul 21, 1806 in Chuckey, Horse Creek, Greene Co., Tennessee. In the Lathrop, Clinton Co., Missouri 1880 census he was head of household, with his wife, daughter “Carrie” and grandson Thomas B. Seaton living there.  Thomas was 23 and worked on the farm. Solomon died in Turney, Clinton Co., Missouri on Oct 10, 1898, when he was 92. He is buried with his wife in Deer Creek Cemetery, Turney, Clinton Co., Missouri.  picture link

On May 10, 1831 when Solomon was 24, he married Mariah (Maria) TROTTER, probably in Sevier Co., Tennessee.  She was born on Jan 14, 1812, also probably in Sevier Co., and died in Missouri on Jun 16, 1899, when she was 87.

Elizabeth ROBERTS’ parents:

Samuel ROBERTS was probably born in Tennessee, and died about Apr 1840.

On Mar 10, 1836 he married Mary HOLLAND, in Clay Co., Missouri.  She was born on May 8, 1818 in Tennessee and died on May 13, 1855, when she was 37.

James Marion CAMPBELL’s father was probably born in Tennessee, his mother in Kentucky.

Martha PEMBERTON’s parents:

Stephen PEMBERTON was born about 1798, probably in Kentucky. He died in McDonough Co., Illinois on Oct 15, 1838, when he was 40.

On Dec 9, 1819 when Stephen was 21, he married Nancy WATSON, in Adaire Co., Kentucky.  She was born in 1800, probably in Virginia, although some sources show Tennessee.

Frances HENDRICKSON’s parents:

Solomon HENDRICKSON was born on Feb 25, 1781 in Pennsylvania. He died after 1850. Occupation:  Farmer.

He married Ellizabeth (Elisabeth) WALLIS, who was born on Jan 10, 1785 in Virginia. She died on Oct 23, 1865, when she was 80.

Solomon SEATON’s parents:

Benjamin SEATON was born in 1768 in Stafford, Virginia. He died in Chuckey, Horse Creek, Greene Co., Tennessee on Sep 8, 1859, when he was 91. He was buried in 1859 on a farm near Cedar Grove, Greene Co., Tennessee.  His wife was buried there in 1858. 

Benjamin was probably married more than once.  At least one source indicates that he served in the Revolutionary War.

In 1785 when Benjamin was 17, he married Mary Elizabeth BIRD, in Richmond, Richmond Co., Virginia.  She was born in 1772 in Richmond, Henrico Co., Virginia. She died in Chuckey, Horse Creek, Greene Co., Tennessee in 1858, when she was 86.

John TROTTER (Senior)was born on Dec 3 or 8, 1777, in Maryland or Virginia. John died in Tennessee on Jan 5, 1856, when he was 78.

On Oct 6, 1803 when John was 25, he married Asa (Ailey?) WHITE.  She was born on Dec 23, 1787 (or 1782) in North Carolina or Tennessee, and died on Dec 24, 1854, when she was 67. She is buried in Middle Creek, Sevier Co., Tennessee.

Benjamin HOLLAND was born on Dec 10, 1786 in Cocke Co., Tennessee. He died in Rochester, Andrew Co., Missouri on Jun 14, 1856, when he was 69.

A Benjamin Holland was a Trustee for Sevier Co., Tennessee from 1827-1836.

On Apr 22, 1808 when he was 21, he married Lydia WARREN, in Greene Co. Tennessee.  She was born on Dec 20, 1789 in Greenville, Greene Co., Tennessee, and she died in Rockport, Atchinson, Missouri on Sep 1, 1868, when she was 78.

In about 1769, when he was 23, he married Pamelia (Parmela) LOVE, in Charles, Maryland.  She was born on Jul 14, 1751 in Newport, Charles Co., Maryland.
