All The Pretty Little Horses

Hush-a-bye don't you cry,
Go to sleep-y, little baby.
When you wake you shall have
All the pretty little horses.
Blacks and bays, dapples and grays,
Coach and six-a little horses.
Hush-a-bye don't you cry,
Go to sleep-y, little baby.

Rock-a-bye, baby mine,
Mama rock-a-little baby.
In the sky shining bright,
Stars look down on little baby.
When you wake you shall have
All the pretty little horses.
Rock-a-bye, baby mine,
Mama rock-a-little baby.

Daddy dear wipes your tear,
Go to sleepy little baby.
Daddy's here, don't you fear,
Sleep a little, little baby.
When you wake you shall have
All the pretty little horses.
Daddy dear wipes your tear
Go to sleepy little baby.

Hush-a-bye don't you cry,
Go to sleep-y, little baby.
When you wake you shall have
All the pretty little horses.
Blacks and bays, dapples and grays,
Coach and six-a little horses.
Hush-a-bye don't you cry,
Go to sleep-y, little baby.

American Folk Traditional:
According to "Living Documents in American History from Earliest Colonial Times to the Civil War" edited by John A Scott, (Trident Press 1963), the song was collected by Alan Lomax, who learned it from his mother, who took it from North Carolina to Texas after the Civil War.
Verses two and three added by Barbara Koska Timm
