BIRTH OF EVA BARBARA

Eva Barbara Büttel was baptised 7 Mar 1750 in the Evangelical Church in Urphar, Mosbach, Baden, Germany. She was the daughter of Joh. Georg Büttel and Barbara Sell. The sponsor was Eva, Joh. Peter Klein daughter.

BIRTH OF HENRICH JACOB RUNCKLES

We know Jacob Runkels was born before 1755. And have reasonable evidence to say he was born before 1749. We know Jacob Runckle's father was named Yost. In 1763 his father, Yost Runkles, along with Daniel Cover, Daneul Zachrias, Vallentin Maurrer and Benedict Schwob were in a meeting with Pastor Jacob Lischy and were witnesses to the constitution of the Pipe Creek Reformed Congregation, Westminster, Maryland. Westminster was originally in Frederick County, Maryland. Several of the Bittle and Kober families owned land that sat on the Frederick/Baltimore County, Maryland border.

CHILDHOOD OF EVA BARBARA

In 1752 Eva Barbara Büttel emmigrated from Ufar in what is the old "County of Wertheim", but is now Urphar, Mosbach, Baden, Germany. The departed Rotterdam on the ship Phoenix and arrived in Philadelphia. Her family eventually settled in Lynn Twp, Northampton County, Pennsylvania and in Weisenberg. This is the Allemangel area of Pennsylvania. Abt 1767 her family moved to the Westminster, Maryland area. Her father's will says he was of Germany Township, York County, Pennsylvania, but her brother, Andreas, owned land in Westminster that was partially in Frederick County and partially in Baltimore County, Maryland. Today this is part of Carroll County, Maryland.

MARRIAGE

In 1770 Jacob Runkle was a witness to Daniel Zacharias will. Assuming this is "our" Jacob Runkle and not an Uncle then we might suppose that Jacob Runkel was born before 1749.

Jacob Runkle and Eva Barbara Bittle were married about 1772 and probably in the Westminster, Maryland area. This includes the possibilty of that they were married in Germany Township, York County, Pennsylvania or Baltimore County, Maryland.

Eva Barbara, or Eva as she was referred to was a strong Evangelical Lutheran, but her husband, Jacob Runkel was Reformed.
