CENTERVILLE,Ga. --
Daniel L. "D.L." Jarriel, 61, died March 3, 2000. He was born in Tattnall County and was retired from Federal Aviation Administration. He was an avid cattle farmer.
SURVIVORS: his wife, June M. Jarriel of Centerville; a daughter, Marie Jarriel Barecky of Centerville; a son, Rex Jarriel of Perry; his mother, Dollie B. Jarriel of Collins; a brother, Kinyard Jarriel of Collins; sisters, Nancy Doyle of Lyons, Charlotte Akins of Brooklet and Janice Edenfield of Collins; and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL: was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, Warner Robins, burial in Parkway Memorial Gardens.

COLLINS (Ga) -
Mrs. Maxie Sikes Jarriel, 81, died Oct. 20 (2000) at home. The lifelong resident of Tattnall County worked for the Tattnall County Board of Education Food Services Department for more than 20 years. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church for more than 55 years and a former Sunday school teacher and choir member. She was a member of the Willing Worker Sunday School Class, the WMU and the Reidsville Sunshine Senior Citizens Group. She was the widow of Stephen Jarriel.
SURVIVORS: two sons, Billy Jarriel of Reidsville and Jimmy Jarriel of Collins; three daughters, Glenda J. Hicks and Martha J. Blair, both of Lizella, and Margie J. Williams of Reidsville; a brother, W.L. Sikes of Cobbtown; a sister, Tera Collins of Savannah; two daughters-in-law, three sons-in-law, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 6-9 p.m. today at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.
FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, burial in Cedar Creek Cemetery.

Notes:Margaret "Maxie" Sikes was born 31 Oct 1918. She was the wife of Stephen Jarriel. He was born 12 Nov 1916 and died 25 Nov 1995. Stephen was the son of John Dempsey Jarriel and Elizabeth "Bessie" Collins.

Mrs. Vera Jarriel, 90

Mrs. Vera Jarriel, 90, died Sunday, February 2, 2003, at the University Medical Center in Augusta. The Toombs County native had lived in Lyons most of her life. She was retired from Lyons Manufacturing and was a member of East Gordon Street Baptist Church in Lyons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Jarriel and three children, Hilda Faye Jarriel, Charlene Sikes, and Metalis Williford.
She is survived by her son, Arthur Wayne Jarriel of Jackson, SC; two daughters, Latrelle J. New of Fayettville, GA, and Evola Corley of Fayettville, TN; fourteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, at the East Gordon Street Baptist Church with Dr. Charlie G. Cooper officiating. Interment followed in the Connors Baptist Church Cemetery in Cobbtown.
Pallbearers were Eddie Corley, Stephen Corley, Mark Corley, Britt New, Randall B. Corley, and Marshall Wayne Jarriel.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Notes:Vera Margaret Cooper was the daughter of Charles Fulton Cooper and Vennie Viola Crapps. She was born on 25 Sept 1912.

Survivors include her mother, Gail Gay Johnson of Augusta; her sister, Jessica Johnson of Augusta; her paternal grandmother, Miriam Johnson of Tybee Island; paternal grandfather, Winton L. Johnson of Millen; and her maternal grandmother, Shirley Gay of Millen.

Ivy Johnson

MILLEN -- Ivy "Monk" Johnson, 85, died Jan. 11,1999 at University Hospital in Augusta.
He was a native of Emanuel County and a retired shipping clerk. He was a deacon of Mount Olivet Baptist Church. He was a member of Screven Masonic Lodge No. 248 and Woodmen of The World Lodge No. 1186.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Janie J. Johnson of Millen; two sons, Billy Johnson of Millen and William Batt Johnson of Columbia; three daughters, Catherine J. Burke and Mary J. Troisi, both of Millen, and Syble J. Gay of Dublin; his stepmother, Sara Bell Johnson of Wrens; a brother, John Harry Johnson of Savannah; four sisters, Madge Canady of Garfield, Mildred Canady of Savannah, Pearl Canady of Twin City and Bell Harper of Metter; a stepsister, Annie Mauney of Wrens; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

John H. (Harry) Johnson

John H. Johnson, 69, died April 6,1999 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was a native of Emanuel County and a resident of Savannah since 1968. He was a Navy veteran of three wars and was on the recovery team for the return of first astronaut in 1961. He attended South Newington Baptist Church and Fort Argyle Full Gospel Church. He managed Nassau Woods Mobile Home Park for 10 years and was self-employed in the construction business.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Eva Johnson of Savannah; two sons, John Johnson and Michael Johnson, both of Savannah; three daughters, Rebecca Swinford of Richmond Hill, Wanda O'Neal of Meldrim and Sharon Batayias of Pooler; four sisters, Mildred Cannady of Savannah, Bell Harper of Metter, Pearl Cannady of Twin City and Madge Cannady of Garfield; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

John T. Johnson, 90, died Sept. 8 (2000) at Jenkins County Hospital. He was born in Emanuel County. He was a retired farmer, a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church and a member of the Georgia Farm Bureau and Woodmen of the World.
SURVIVORS: two sons, James M. Johnson of Barnwell, S.C., and Roger Johnson of Garfield; four daughters, Winnie Ruth Stoddard of Chapel Hill, N.C., Juanita Sikes of Garfield, Martha Peacock of Twin City and Linda Nash of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Liza McBride of Portal; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Pearl Wilson Johnson, 94, died on Friday, August 16 (2002), at the Tattnall Community Hospital in Reidsville after an extended illness. Mrs. Johnson was a native of Johnson Co. and lived in Garfield before moving to Reidsville to live with her son, Winton, for a number of years. She worked for Oxford Industries in Millen, Swainsboro Sportswear and was a homemaker. She was the oldest living member of Hebron Primitive Baptist Church and was wife of the late Otis L. Johnson, Sr.
Survivors: sons, Otis L. Johnson, Jr. of Good Hope, Winton L. Johnson of Reidsville, and Billy Edward Johnson of Swainsboro; sister, Gladys Lamb of Twin City; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 6:00-9:00 p. m. Saturday at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary. Funeral Services: 2:00 p. m. Sunday, August 18, in the Hebron Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. Burial: church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

WADLEY, Ga. -- Mrs. Eleanor Moore Lamb, 80, of 1306 Meadows Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999, at Emanuel Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home, Swainsboro, with the Revs. Tim Lamb and Marcus Price officiating. Burial will be in Lamb's Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Lamb, a native of Emanuel County, was a homemaker and a Methodist.
Survivors include a son, Gary Lamb, Wadley; a daughter, Diane Peebles, Wadley; and a sister, Louise Horne, Milledgeville.
Pallbearers will be Steven Lamb, George Durden Meadows, George Meadows, Raymond Meadows, Ray Meadows and Bryan Kilgore.

Harvey O. Lane

Mr. Harvey O. Lane, age 87, died on Sunday at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.
The Screven County native had lived in Bulloch County for most of his life and was a member of Pittman Park United Methodist Church where he attended the Henderson Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army and Marine Corps. He was also retired from the Civil Service at Fort Stewart and Bulloch Memorial Hospital. He was a mason and a member of the Ogeechee Lodge Number 213 for more than fifty years and was a member of the Eastern Star Blue Ray Chapter. He was a Shriner and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha S. Lane in 1999.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Hobson Robinson of Statesboro; one sister, Marjorie Lovin of Macon; four grandchildren, Jennifer Jenkins, Susan Williams, Sam Robinson, and Carl Woodard, all of Statesboro; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Pittman Park United Methodist Church. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Pittman Park Henderson Sunday School Class and members of the Eastern Star.

Mr. Ollie Lane, 75, of 442 U.S. Highway 25 S., died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Augusta. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Elam Baptist Church with the Revs. Newman Samples, D.R. Parker and Bill Brown officiating. Burial will be in Elam Cemetery.
Mr. Lane, a native of Jenkins County, was a Ford tractor dealer and had served as a Jenkins County commissioner. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Rosemary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He had been a member of Jenkins County Development Authority and was a member of Southeastern Dealers Equipment Association.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Lewis Lane; one son, Richard McNeely, Millen; one brother, Glover Lane, Millen; two sisters, Alma Fields and Ivelyn Burke, both of Millen; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Steve Burke, Don Burke, Wayne Fields, Lewis Lane, Emory Lane Jr., Randy Lane and Anthony Cowart.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Rosemary Baptist Church and present and former Jenkins County commissioners. Friends may call until noon Friday at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Gibson S. Gip Lanier Jr., 87, of 4562 Gip Road, died Thursday, June 10, 1999, at University Hospital, Augusta.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elam Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Brown officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Lanier, a native of Jenkins County, had retired as a farmer. He was a member of Elam Baptist Church, where he was a member of the men's Bible class.
Survivors include his wife, Kate Gay Lanier.

Mildred "Millie" Lanier, 69, was held Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at 5 p.m. from Garfield Methodist Church in Garfield. The Rev. D.R. Parker and the Rev. Mira Barrett officiated. Burial followed in Lewis Church Cemetery near Millen.
She died Monday, June 24 (2002). A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Lanier was a retired bookkeeper and member of Garfield Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Susie Lanier of Statesboro; two sons, Grady E. Lanier of Nashville, Tenn., and Jim O. Lanier of Millen; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Scott Phillips, Bart Hall, Ronnie Bazemore, Billy Joe Portwood, James Slater, Madison Durden and Chris Ellison.

Ruby Brinson Lanier, 90, died Monday (1 Jul 2002) at Metter Nursing Home. The Bulloch County native lived in Metter for the past 71 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Wallace Lanier; a son, Glynn E. Lanier; a son-in-law, John Roger Akins; a daughter-in-law, Tina Lanier; and a grandson, Mike Lanier.

Thomas Zebedee Lanier Jr.

ATHENS (GA) —
Thomas Zebedee Lanier Jr. died Monday, October 21, 2002.
Born in Candler County on January 23, 1925, to the late Audrie Lanier Lanier and T. Z. “Zeb” Lanier Sr., he spent most of his life in Chatham, Bulloch and Clarke counties. He was married for 53 years to the former Edna Rebecca Fulmer of Metter.
After graduation from Metter High School, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946. He attended Middle Georgia College, University of North Carolina Officer’s Candidate School and the University of Georgia. He was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. After graduation in 1949 with a degree in agricultural engineering, he taught veterans in Screven County and worked with Farmers Home Administration in Millen. After moving to Savannah in 1951, he was president of Bride and Groom Furniture Co., Inc., on East Victory Drive. In 1966, he joined the UGA Cooperative Extension Service in Athens where he was associated with the community and resource development department.
After moving to Statesboro in 1973, he served as district agent for community development for Southeast Georgia and retired in 1986 as district director for Southeast Georgia’s 37 counties. He was a member of the Forest Heights Country Club where he was a tennis enthusiast.
During his tenure with extension, he received numerous honors including the Leadership Award for Georgia Agri-Business Development, National Award for Youth and 4-H for his contribution to programs for Youth Development, and the Georgia Adult Educational Award for his development of programs for Senior Citizens of Georgia.
Mr. Lanier held active membership in the Lions Club of Millen and Savannah and the Kiwanis Club of Statesboro where he served on the board of directors. Since moving back to Athens in 1989, he actively participated and held memberships in various organizations. He served as president of the Middle Georgia College Alumni Association and was on the MGC College Foundation Board. He was a member of the Athens First United Methodist Church, having served on its administrative board, and was sunshine chairman for the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
As a longtime Georgia Bulldog fan, he held memberships in Touchdown Club, Quarterback Club, Coliseum Club and was a supporter of the Diamond Dawgs. He was a past member of the Ag Alumni Association, Jennings Mill Country Club and most recently, the Athens Country Club where he supported the tennis program.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Lanier; and three sons, Tom Lanier and Jim Lanier, Athens, and Scott Lanier, Charlotte, N.C.; daughters-in-law, Jan Shuford Lanier and Lydia Farill Lanier; six grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Lanier, Bo Lanier, Stan Lanier, Kelly Lanier, Alan Lanier and Beth Lanier West; grandson-in-law, Adam West; one brother, William L. Lanier, Metter; six sisters, Mattie Lanier Lanier and Maggie Lanier Spivey, Metter, Margie Lanier Brown, Baxley, Mary Lanier, Athens, Myrtice Lanier Lanier, Alma, and Marie Lanier Kemp, Savannah.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Bernstein’s.
The funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Athens at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Reverends Dr. Bill Britt, Grady Wigley and Carolyn Moore officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Martha Canady Lee, 57

Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary announces the death of Martha Ann Canady Lee, age 57, of Swainsboro, on Monday, November 19 (2001) at the Memorial Medical Center in Savannah after a brief illness. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 21, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary with the reverend Wilmer Hall officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery near Garfield, Georgia.
Pallbearers are Frank Canady, Andy Edenfield, Shane Hooks, Ronnie Newsome, Mike Wiggins, Jeff Wiggins, Jason Wiggins and Joey Newsome.
The family will receive friends at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m.
Mrs. Lee was a native of Jenkins County, a homemaker and retired textile worker. She was a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and
daughter of the late James B. and Faeria Proctor Canady.
Survivors include one daughter, Deborah E. Hooks of Swainsboro, two sons, Tim Edenfield and Joey Edenfield of Swainsboro, two sisters, Jerri Walker of Joyce Wiggins of Millen. One brother, Pete Canady of Swainsboro, two grandchildren Ashley Hooks and Ariel Edenfield of Swainsboro.

BLACKSHEAR,Ga. -
Mrs. Mary Ellen Dixon Lee, 81, died Dec. 18, 2000 at Satilla Regional Medical Center. The native of Pierce County had lived in Brantley and Coffee counties, but resided in Pierce County most of her life. She worked with the Pierce Trading Co. for several years before opening Mary's Sewing Basket, which she owned and operated for many years. She was a member of Enon Primitive Baptist Church and the widow of Joe T. Lee Sr.
SURVIVORS: a daughter and son-in-law, Zoie and Alton Thornton of Blackshear; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe T. Lee Jr. and Pat Lee of Folkston; a sister, Annie Maude Pafford of Blackshear; four grandchildren, Tony Thornton, Joey Thornton, Joe T. Lee III and Chad Brent Lee; five great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Pearson-Treadwell Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Enon Primitive Baptist Church, burial in Shiloh Cemetery.

Notes: Mary Ellen Dixon was the daughter of John Jasper Dixon and Eliza Ann Boyette. She was born on 30 April 1919.

Mr. Leon W. Lewis, 93, of Mount Olivet Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at Metter Nursing Home, Metter.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Garfield Baptist Church, Garfield, with the Revs. Bob Conley and Bill Coggins officiating. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery, Garfield.
Mr. Lewis, a lifelong resident of Emanuel County, had retired as a director from Pineland Telephone Corp. and as a farmer. He was a member of Garfield Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Cecil Lewis, Twin City; a daughter, Sarah Margaret Lewis Kyle, Marietta; and eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Memorials may be made to Garfield Baptist Church.
Tomlinson Funeral Home, Swainsboro, is in charge of arrangements.

Notes: Leon W. Lewis was the son of Malachi "Mallie" Sample Lewis and Sallie Clark. He was born on 17 Dec 1907 and married Frankee Ellington (daughter of Frank Ellington and Maggie Davis).

Mrs. Fannie Mae Collins Lynn, 80, died Tuesday afternoon, September 24 (2002), at the Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia after a brief illness. Mrs. Lynn was a native of Emanuel County residing in Lyons for the past 41 years. She was a retired Federal Employee and a member of Oak Park Church of God.
Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jerry Green of Kennesaw; daughter, Carol Sue Lynn Faircloth of Lyons; two granddaughters, Dana Lynn Faircloth of Lyons and Susan Lynn Green of Birmingham, AL; four sisters, Nell Anderson of Lyons, Jo Harrell of Hepizah, Dot Joyner and Janis LaBelle both of Milledgeville; two brothers, Albert Jarahn Collins, Sr. of Lyons and Marvin O. Collins of Swainsboro; four Godchildren, Justin, Jordan, Lauren, and Logan Powell, all of Lyons; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services: 4:30 p. m. Thursday, September 26 (2002), from the Oak Park Church of God with Rev. Brian Powell and Rev. Kelmer Durden officiating. Burial: Collins Baptist Church Cemetery. Gordon Lynn, 73, died July 6, 1999. He was a native of Toombs County, a retired farmer and a Mason. He was a disabled Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Margaret Lynn of Lyons; a son, Mickey Lynn of Lyons; his mother, Mrs. Walter Lynn Sr. of Lyons; a brother, William H. Lynn of Lyons; two sisters, Sara Lynn Sapp of Lyons and Rose Lynn McAlum of Savannah and a grandson, Tony Michael Lynn of Lyons.
