Shelby Tidings

Rev. Geo. S. Bright, Editor

A religious paper published monthly in the interests of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Shelby, Ohio

December 1901, Vol 1, No 3

Charles SHATZER has been busy with his duties as teacher of Greek and History in Wittenberg college.

The following persons have paid their subscription for TIDINGS during the past month:

S. S. BLOOM.

Mrs. Louisa SCRANTON.

Mrs. Sarah DAWSON.

J. Frank GUMP.

M. WICKSTROM.

Jacob GARNHART.

Miss Jennie SUMMERS.

Mr. MORTON.

W. P. BLOOM, Columbus.

Mrs. J. E. SIEGFRIED, Phillipsburg, Pa.

Dr. F. K. WHITE, Phillipsburg, Pa.

Axel PALLE, Phillipsburg, Pa.

Mrs. Jacob HERSHISER has been confined to the house for some time by illness.

     A. W. YOUNG and wife, Lutherans, have taken up their residence at No. 61 North Broadway.

Mrs. DIXON and her son Roy have moved from the farm west of town to No. 196 W. Main street.

Mrs. John K. CUMBERWORTH spent several weeks of last month visiting her daughter in Indianapolis, Ind.  We missed her.

Mr. and Mrs. John CRAWFORD and family are Lutheran people who have come from Shiloh recently, and now reside at No. 210 W. Main.

The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff J. HERSHISER was baptized on the seventeenth of last month, and Mrs. HERSHISER was received into church membership.

The Rev. Rufus A. HALVERSTADT is succeeding well in his new field in Crestline.  The editor while in Crestline recently was dine by the Dominie and his good wife.

The Misses ROBERTS, LANCE and WIRT worshipped in the Lutheran church at Galion on a recent Sabbath.  They speak in glowing terms of the welcome with which they were received.

Mrs. Margaret GALLENTIN, Mrs. Margaret FINICLE and Mrs. Elizabeth HUMMELL have been prevented from worshipping with us for some time by reason of the infirmities of old age, May God bring them a blessing every Sabbath in their homes.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Frank GUMP, whose names were unintentionally omitted from the list of members in our first issue, celebrated the twenty-sixth anniversary of their marriage on the second of the present month.  All of their children, together with about thirty-five invited guests, were present.

The condition of Grandmother WEISER remains practically unchanged.  For many months she has been bedfast, yet cheerful and patient.  She seems to suffer no pain, but her long illness has rendered her very weak.  Her daughter, Mrs. Emma PERDEW, is most diligent and faithful in ministering to every need of her aged mother.  May both be helped by Him who is our Refuge and Strength--the very present help in trouble.

     B. J. ROSEBOROUGH has closed his grocery story and will go to Cleveland in the near future.  We are sorry to lose Mr. and Mrs. ROSEBOROUGH but wish them well wherever they may go.

The brothers DEWITT have returned from their vacation.
