Rev. Geo. S. Bright, Editor

A religious paper published monthly in the interests of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Shelby, Ohio

November 1901, Vol 1, No 2

On the 20th of October, John FIROVID, one of the fathers of the church, was laid to rest in the London burying ground.  He was nearly 77 years of age and had fought a good fight, finished his course and kept the faith.  We commend his

aged widow and his surviving children to the mercy and providence of God.

Mrs. W. W. STARR visited in Newark for a few days last month.

Mrs. SHRINER has moved from East Main street to a house on North Gamble street.

Charles BUSHEY has entered upon a two-year course in civil engineering at the Ohio State University.

Mrs. Louise SCRANTON has rented a suite of rooms at No. 112 East Main street, and is comfortably situated.

Mrs. Mary BENDEL, 22 Walnut St., has a very heavy burden to bear in the prolonged illness of her husband.

The Missionary society held a very enjoyable Thank offering meeting at the home of Mrs. J. D. SHATZER on the evening of the 12th inst.

We understand that Mr. and Mrs. W. F. SHEELY and Max will return to town to reside either this fall or in the spring.  That is good news.

Mrs. Bergetta BRUBAKER, Mrs. Jane FIROVID and Sherman HERSHISER, are names unintentionally omitted in the list of membership of last month's issue.

The brothers DEWITT spent Sabbath with us recently.  They are enjoying a two-month's vacation at their home in Loudonville. It was a pleasure to have them with us again. We miss them very much.  They will return permanently about the first of December.

On Friday, October 25th, we laid to rest Jerome KOHLER.  There was a very large attendance at the funeral, which was held in the church.  The J.U.A.M. attended in a body.  The deceased was a member of that order.  May the wife and children and the aged mother have the consolation of the Gospel in their grief.

On the evening of the 22nd of October the pastor solemnized the marriage of Charles A. BARR and Miss Dora BISTLINE, both of Plymouth.  The couple remained in Shelby for supper, then drove home to Plymouth, where they will begin housekeeping immediately.  Best wishes of TIDINGS.

Mrs. Hannah STINE, sister of Henry WENTZ, died at the home of Mr. WENTZ on the 11th of last month.  She had come for a visit but was stricken with illness soon after her arrival, pneumonia developing.  A brief service was held at the house, from which the body was taken to Crestline for burial.  Mrs. STINE was almost 76 years of age at the time of her death.
