A religious paper published monthly in the interests of the First Evangelical

Lutheran Church of Shelby, Ohio

Franklin Levi SHEARER.

The funeral service of Frank L. SHEARER was held on the afternoon of the

7th inst.  A brief prayer was offered at the home, on Oak street, from which the procession went to the church, where the services were held.  A large company of friends, including the members of the local M.W.A., were present, and a mixed quartette rendered impressive music.

The service was most solemn, and we are certain that it was a means of grace to all present.  Deceased was only thirty-eight years of age, but death was a relief, because of his intense suffering during the last few weeks of his life.  He made a confession of Christ some months ago, and received holy baptism, and before the end came expressed hope and confidence in the mercy of God.

Surely, those that come to Him will not be cast out.  May God comfort the stricken loved ones--the wife, father and mother, sisters and brother.

Mr. and Mrs. WIKSTROM spent Sabbath in Cleveland recently.

The condition of Mrs. HERSEHISER shows no improvement, but she is bearing her long illness with Christian fortitude.

     J. C. FISH and family celebrated Independence day in lavish syle (sic) by

enertaining (sic) their neighbors and friends at fire works in the evening.

Communion was administered to Mrs. Jacob HERSHEISEER, Mrs. Margaret

GALLENTIN and S. S. BLOOM, in their respective sick rooms on the afternoon of the 28th.

     S. S. BLOOM has grown much worse since our last issue.  The serviecs (sic) of a professional nurse are now required, and no one is admitted to the sick room.

Burton ORWILER is not making any improvement, but on the contrary is growing weaker.  He suffers much by reason of the hot weather, and the severe storms have a tendency to increase his sufferings.  It is an hour of great trial for him and the members of the family, and we pray that God will sustain them.
