The DeWITT brothers will soon enter upon a two-month's vacation to be
spent at the home of their parents in Loudonville. Synod. .... Several young men were ordained to the
work of the Gospel Ministry, among whom was Samuel HERSHISER, well known to
many of our people.
Your pastor was called home before the close of synod on account of
the death of Mrs. Wm. KELLEY.
The pastor officiated at the funeral of Mrs. S. M. WARD on the
afternoon of October 7th. A large
concourse of people gathered at the home to do honor to the memory of the
departed one, and to extend sympathy to the bereaved ones. The Lady Maccabes attended the funeral
service in a body, and rendered an impressive and beautiful portion of their
ritual. Interment was made at Oakland
cemetery. May the stricken husband
and sons look to God for comfort in their grief.
On the 25th of September Mrs. Wm. KELLEY departed this life, being in
her twenty-eighth year. The deceased
was a member of the Lutheran church in Plymouth, and died triumphant in the
faith. Funeral services were held in
the church on the afternoon of the 27th. On the 22nd of September the infant
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff RANDALL was dedicated to God in holy baptism.
Chas. L. BUSHEY leaves shortly for Springfield to resume his studies
in Wittenberg Theological Seminary. (This issue includes a list of "The
Members," with addresses, approximately220). |
