James Leander ROBISON

James Leander ROBISON was born Sept. 5, 1854 in Richland County, Ohio. During his infancy his parents moved to Wisconsin where he resided until he was 15 years of age. From Wisconsin he moved with his parents to Worth County, MO., where he spent the greater portion of his life.

 He married Miss Sarah BATSON June 18, 1876 who survives him. Of this union five children were born, three boys and two girls – Alonzo, James, William, Gertie and Alta. All are living except Gertie who died a few years ago. Two brothers survive him, W.L. of Ravenwood and J.L. of Oklahoma. Two sisters have preceded him into rest.

He died Feb. 23, 1913, at his home near Parnell.

The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. SMITH of Sheridan, and the burial took place in the Parnell cemetery, Tuesday.

James (Jim) Lloyd ROBISON

James Lloyd ROBISON son of Mr. & Mrs. James L ROBISON, was born in Kingmon County, Kansas April 26, 1887 and departed this life in Sheridan, Mo. Nov 3, 1930 at the age of 43 years 6 months and 8 days.

 He was united in marriage to Sarah Pearl PARSONS Oct 29, 1914.  To this union were born two daughters Lillie and Beatrice ROBISON.  Besides his loving companion and daughters he leaves to mourn his departure his aged mother, Mrs. Sarah ROBSION and two brothers, Alonzo and William all of Sheridan and a host of other loving relatives and friends.  His father and two sisters preceded him in death.

"Jim" as he was called, was a devoted husband and father, a good neighbor and a loyal friend, always ready to help others in time of need, trouble or sorrow, his kind disposition and acts of kindness will be long remembered by people who knew him during his life in this community where he will be greatly missed and in the home.

 Jesus while our hearts are bleeding O'ver the spoil that death has won,

 We would at this sad bereavement calmly say Thy will be done.

 A host of friends sympathize with the bereaved ones in this hour of sorrow:  May they be comforted by the assurance that while their loved one cannot return to them, they go to him; they have a rich treasure laid up in the Fathers house and where their work on earth is finished may they go to him.

 Funeral services were held at the Christian Church in Sheridan, Mo, Wednesday Nov. 5, at 2 o'clock pm, conducted by Charlie E GRAHAM, where love and sympathy were manifested by one of the largest attendances ever held in Sheridan.  Interment took place in the Parnell  (Mo) cemetery.

Sarah Elizabeth BATSON/ROBISON

Sarah E. BATSON, daughter of W.M. & Catherine BATSON, was born in Marshall Co., Iowa, January 20, 1854 and departed this life at the home of her son in Sheridan, Missouri on October 9, 1938, at the ripe old age of 84 yrs, 8 months and 19 days. She was the oldest of a family of 10 children, 5 of whom had preceded her to the great beyond.

At the age of about 14 years she with her family came to Worth County, Missouri, where on June 18,1876, she was united in marriage to James Leander ROBISON. The greater part of the last 62 years has been spent in Worth Co. Her home has not been without its share of sorrows. Of the 5 children who came to bless the home, three: Gertrude, Alta E., & James L. along with her companion have answered the last summons.  Besides the rearing of her children she also reared 2 of her grandchildren, Virgil E. ROBISON and Corda N. GOLDEN, the latter now of Dallas, Texas, coming to help care for her in her last sickness.

Mr. ROBSION passed away February 23, 1913, and thus our subject has been a widow for more than 25 yrs., the last 15 of which have been spent in Sheridan, Missouri.

She leaves to mourn her departure, 2 sons; Alonzo G. ROBISON of Sheridan, Mo.,   & William T. of Woodbury, Oregon; 4 sisters; Mrs. Cleracy C. LaMUNYON and Mrs. Margaret Baker of Sheridan, Mrs. Eliza LaMunyon of Latham, Kansas and Mrs. Effie SPARGUR of Loveland, Colorado; 16 grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

 Grandma ROBISON lived a long and useful life.  She was loved by all who knew her.  About 8 years ago she surrendered her life to Christ and united with the Sheridan Methodist Church.  She has been faithful to her pledge of loyalty to her Lord and Church and thus leaves the humble admonition to all that the Fathers way is the true life.

God knows the way, He holds the key, He guides us with unerring hand; sometimes with tearless eyes we'll see, Yes there, up there we'll understand.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church in Sheridan on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. C. C. PRITCHARD being in charge after which the remains were laid to rest in the Parnell Cemetery.
