Postmarked Athol, KS

From Elizabeth (Lizzie) Anderson-Larsen

Dear Blanche and Roy, I will answer your welcome letter. I hope this finds you both well. I don't see what you wanted to go so far away for. I thought we would have got up to see you but guess nothing doing now. I am thinking about going up there some time this fall and see the rest of the folks. Lawrence (son of Lizzie & Samuel Larson) was home to see us a couple of weeks ago. He has the sweetest little boy I ever saw. I am sure lonesome for him & then Lawrence is my little boy, so I think I am awfully lonesome for the both of them. And Harry (son of Lizzie & Samuel Larson) and his wife & little boy (wife “?” and son Lawrence) was home too but they only stayed a couple of days. I wish they would have stayed longer. Well Blanche I am here by myself this evening, Uncle (Samuel) went up town. I wish you was close enough you come over a little while to keep me company. I never care to go up town when I haven't got anything to go up town for. I saw Alma Khulman last Sunday. She was just fine but I haven't saw Goldie (Lizzie’s granddaughter, daughter of Phoebe) since school started. She is going to High School in Smith Center  (*Kansas) again. It is her second year. Ethel and Viola (her granddaughters, daughters of son Alfred) is going to High School in Athol. They sure are getting to be big girls. They was up to see Aunt Tillie (Matilda Anderson-Thomas) and the rest of the folks up there. We have had some awful rains. In August it didn’t only rain but it just poured. It has been bad for those who didn't get their threshing done early. The stacks got so wet that they haven't been able to thresh for some time. I expect that a lot of the wheat will be spoiled. That is too bad but guess we can't help it but the corn sure is good this year where it wasn't hailed. We had quite a hailstorm and where that went it hurt the corn pretty bad. Phoebe (Lizzie’s daughter) sure has some fine corn, such ears there is on the bottomland. I wish I was young I would like to shuck corn yet I don't expect I would be much force now. Well Blanche it is just about my bed time so I think I had better stop my hen scratching for this time and go to bed so good night with

Love to both from Uncle & Aunt Lizzie. Write soon.
