Equity Case Number 7071 was a case
filed by the descendants of my great great grandparent's (Mobile
and Lanie 'Colbert'
Stevenson) and others (1600 Freedmen) who
should have been placed on the Dawes Rolls by Blood. Lanie
(Colbert) Stevenson
was the daughter of Maj. James Colbert of the
Chickasaw empire and an unknown slave woman. There is documented history
about my Stevenson Family. Daniel F.
Littlefield, Jr. speaks of her and other family member's in his The Chickasaw
Freedmen: A People Without A Country, (Greenwood Press). The picture
above is Mobile and Lanie's
great great great grandsons, Eric "Rick"
Wyatt, my eldest son and Edward
"Ed" Wyatt,
my youngest son. It is said that a picture speaks a thousand words and
thus I post these pictures of my sons in front of the Indian Scout at the
Business Men's Assurance building in Kansas City. Does it not scream
out...."How much longer must we wait for JUSTICE" and "I'm
still LOOKING for some answers". With all the recent talks of
Slave REPARATIONS this document may prove beneficial for future
generations. I have posted the entire case online. The index below list the names of those who filed the case I must state that the spelling of some names may not be correct and that in transcribing the 16 pages of names I may have missed a few. If the name you are researching is not listed here please see the first 16 pages of this 113 page case.
