1.1.1. Thomas Kirby (1686-1741).

Thomas Kirby's wife was Frances, daughter of William and Frances Lowry. Her father's will (proved 16 Sep. 1724, Elizabeth City County) named Frances Kirby as his daughter, stating that she was dead, and that she left four living children whose father was Thomas Kirby. The births of their children are recorded in the Charles Parish birth register, and the deaths of Thomas and Frances Kirby are recorded in the parish death register. John Kirby made oath to York County court on 18 May 1741 that his father, Thomas Kirby, had died without leaving a will, and he was granted administration of his father's estate. The value of Thomas Kirby's estate was appraised at £601.11.7.
