Abstract of Will of John Kerby.

I lend to my loving wife Martha Kerby during her natural life, one Mulatto Fellow nam'd Grey, one Fellow nam'd Scipio One D[itt]o nam'd Bristow & all my personal estate whatsoever, provided nevertheless that the aforesaid Negroes shall return to Thomas Kerby, Son of the aforesaid John Kerby, at the decease of the aforesaid Martha Kerby. If Thomas Kerby dies before age 18, then Martha Kerby may dispose of Negroes at her discretion.

Plantation to Martha Kerby for life, then to son Thomas. If Thomas Kerby dies before age 18 or without lawfully begotten heirs, then plantation to John Kerby, son of Robert Kerby. Negro Wench Rachel to wife for life, then to son Thomas, if he die without heirs or before age 18, then to Mary Tompkins, dau. of Benit Tompkins, Senr. Rest of estate to wife Martha, and she is Executrix. Date. 2 Dec. 1734. Signed John Kerby
