1799 & 1800 - Samuel Dunlap, Clerk, was living in the household of John Dunlap, Alexandria, VA, Merchant. 1807 - Samuel Dunlap was named as a brother to John Dunlap, Alexandria, VA, Merchant. 1820 - Samuel Dunlap Guardian of William & Jinney McDowell returns to Court the following acct. to wit, Rec'd of Samuel Montgomery Administrator of John McDowell dec'd and Executor of Susannah McDowell, Dec'd The sum of two hundred and seventy seven dollars and seventy one cents of the estate of same del and the same money is at interest this 3'd day of July 1820 - Sam'l Dunlap Guardian of Wm McDowell & Jinney J. 1824-1826 (Pg 345) It being represented to the Court, on the Motion of James G. Ramsey & William B. A. Ramsey Administrators of the estate of Francis A. Ramsey deceased that the said Francis A. Ramsey in his life time became Security for a Certain Samuel Dunlap who was by this Court heretofore appointed Guardian to William G. McDowel & Jane J. McDowel minor Orphans (Pg 346) That by an Order of this court heretofore made, some evidence of Claims in favor of said Minors has been by said Dunlap put into the hands of said Ramsey, and on said Claims some money has been received - And it being represented that said William & Jane are now residing in the County of Blount and that the court of said County has appointed for said Wards a Guardian within said County - Therefore on the application of said William & James Administrators as aforesaid it is Ordered by the Court that they be permitted to pay over to the Guardian appointed in Blount County any money they may have in their hands or that may come to their hands belonging to said Minors - for which his receipt shall be a voucher. 1824-1826 Samuel Dunlap vs Samuel Montgomery.
This day Came the parties by their Attornies and thereupon came a Jury to wit - Thomas Conner Abednego Casteel William Haskew Aaron Bales Thomas Fannon Harris Gammon James Milliken Merchant Baldwin John Lindsay Bennett Harrelson Francis Bounds Moses Armstrong who having been elected tried and sworn the truth to speak upon the issue joined upon their Oath do say the Defendant has not kept and performed the Covenant in (Pg. 350) the Declaration mentioned and they Assess the Plaintiffs Damage by Occasion thereof to One hundred and Eighteen dollars and fifty six Cents besides Costs - Therefore it is Considered by the Court that the plaintiff recover against the Defendant one hundred eighteen dollars and fifty Six Cents -- The Damages aforesaid in form aforesaid Assessed And also his Costs by him about his suit in this behalf expended.
