Montgomery Family History

Welcome to the Montgomery
Family History website. This site concerns the history of James Montgomery (212)* and his
family. They came originally from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania,
via Westmoreland County, where his father died, eventually settling
about 1800 in what is today New Vernon Township, Mercer County,
PA. James married Sarah Fulton (213)
and together they had ten children.

Tracing the Montgomerys has presented
a challenge, not only because records of the generations preceding
James are sparse, but also because of the appearance of the same
names (particularly "Archibald") in many generations
and many branches of the family. I have tried to gather the information
presented in this pamphlet accurately, but I am interested in
any documented information that contradicts anything presented
herein.

This Montgomery Family site is part
of my Evans Family History website. I am Timothy D. Evans
