-------------------------------------------------------------------- Highlighted Messages:-) Personal Email I am a direct descendant of Capt. John Caldwell ( Cub Creek John ). On the old site there were downloadable disks by Edith Greisser that cannot now be found on this new site. Do these still exist? I had the good fortune to meet Edith in June of this year and took the Caldwell Tour around Newberry, SC where we visited the graves of many of my Caldwell family. Mudlick Creek and Little River Presbyterian cemeteries were on the tour. In August I went to Lunenburg, Va. and surrounding areas searching for the Caldwell Settlement site but unfortunately was unable to locate it according to the directions I had. On this site there is a story by Diz Caldwell telling of his visit there this year and the directions to it. However, his page will not download correctly in order to print out all his info. Just wanted to let someone know about this. Not sure if others are having the same problem. Also, just wanted to let you know that this website is a goldmine and I enjoy visiting it often. Thank you for all your hard work! Judy Estes P.S. My husband's family also are related to Capt. John.

Thanks ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hello: I am secretary of Historic Russellville located in Russellville, Logan County, KY. We have recentely restored the saddle factory operated by David and Andrew Caldwell from 1817 - 1840. Plans are underway to open the 1817 Saddle Factory Museum this spring. We are most interested in information on the Caldwell family. I have a paper dated 1900 written by John William Caldwell of Russellville . The line of descent is Oliver arrived in Pa 1854. He was first married to Ann Caldwell. Two sons, Joseph and John. He later married Isabella Cook and while enroute to KY from VA in late 1700s he died and is buried in Tenn. His wife with children George, David, Andrew and Daniel continued the trip to KY and resided with the Cook family. The article by John William Caldwell notes that Oliver brought with him a family history which he had a copy of that was lost during the Civil War. He also said Oliver had a silver cup like the one described in other forum articles I have read. The writer of the paper (1900) is the son of Austin Caldwell and wife, Louisa Harrison Caldwell (she was a widow of David), His grandparents were John Caldwell and wife, Elizabeth Akers (Aders,Acers). He was the great grandson of Oliver Caldwell and wife, Anne Caldwell. Historic Russellville would be most grateful to hear from anyone connected to this outstanding family. I have enjoyed reading about the Caldwells in this forum. Sincerely Pat Basham, Secretary, Historic Russellville jbasham@logantele.com
