This is a contribution from Edith Greisser

forwarded to me by Dean Simpson

I hold no claim for this information - it is simply a hobby of mine which sprang from discovering an abandonned cemetery. The grave was on the site of the old Island Ford Plantation and the grave was of William Thomas Caldwell, son of James and Elizabeth Forrest Caldwell. I wondered who this man was and started research to learn of him. From there came my Caldwell research. The family is fascinating. I have since adopted the grave of William, his uncle John who was killed in 1781 by William Cunningham and also the graveyard and foundation of the original church the Caldwell family worshipped in the 1700's in Newberry Co. SC.

I am hoping someday to find a family member of Capt. William Thomas Caldwell, so that they can carry on the preservation of the gravesite. So many sites today are being lost to developers.

Please feel free to share what I have in the diskettes. I gave them to Dean Simpson last year and am surprised how they have circulated.

Happy researching.
