Slave Narratives---recorded as part of the WPA in 1935 and involving the name Caldwell.
From Caldwell legal/court Records: Sam, about thirty years old, sold from the estate of John Caldwell of Livingston County, Kentucky to Joshua Scott. Presided over by Samuel Caldwell and Judith Caldwell administrators, app-1806. Said Sam was futher sold in 1808 by Joshua Scott to one John Jackson of Philadelphia.
Judith Caldwell on January 5th, 1807, immancipated and set free her slave named Lucy about seventy years of age. Gift from Moses Shelby to the son, John Caldwell, of his daughter Polly Caldwell (married to Robert S Caldwell) a negro girl named Agne(s) the 25th of October 1806. Gift from Moses Shelby to Robert S Caldwell, one negro man named Dick approximately 40 years of age and one negro child named June on the 15th of February, 1814. Claiborne County, Kentucky.
