Mann Descendants / Questions / DNA / Photos / Family Reunion / EMail / Guestbook

This site is dedicated to my Daddy, Edgar Vaughn Mann, whom I miss and love very much.
Surnames: Akin, Bailey, Bell, Brown, Ditmore, Eubanks, Hambrick, Harper, Harris, Henderson, Hubbard, Hutcheson, Johns, Key, Kidd, Lashley, Lesueur, Lewis, Malone, Mann, McElroy, Mullin, Patton, Prather, Reeves, Roebuck, Shackelford, Smith, Starr, Turner, Whaley, White, Wilder, Wooten
The descendants of James Mann (1747 - 1814) and Judith Johns Mann (1747 - 1827) Elbert County, Georgia.

The earliest information I find on my ancestors is the reporting of their arrival in this country in South Carolina before 1763. "On December 22, 1767 the Clerk reported to the board that in pursuance of His Excellency the Governor's directions had been on board the ship Earl of Donegal,........Robert Man 40, Susannah Man 40, James Man 11, Jannet Man 8, John Man 5, Robert Man 3."
My direct line of Mann comes from James Man. He was a Private in the Revolutionary War in Col. Thompson's Regiment of Rangers in South Carolina. From South Carolina he moved to Elbert County, Georgia.

Mann DNA

I had my brother's DNA tested for the 37-marker paternal lineage test from Family tree DNA.

These Y-DNA results matched for the close match between two cousins from Henry Mann (1786-1828) and my 4th Great Grandfather John Mann (1767-1841). They are sons of James Mann (1747 - 1814).
If there are others of you out there who have a male Mann in your family and have had DNA tested, check the DNA page for comparison. I would love to find more cousins.
