Maryland ca. before 1735
Thomas English - wife unknown -- had 2 sons Thomas2 b1735
and James b1738 Md. They may have had 2 daughters also who
possibly died leaving orphan children thus explaining the
recording of deeds in trust for others by Thomas2 and James.
Pitt and Hyde Co.'s
North Carolina ca. 1763-1812
Thomas and James appear on many deeds. tax lists, census and
estate sales. Several of the deeds are in trust for William
Noble, an orphan and Sarah Mariner, an orphan. (nephew &
niece?) Thomas2 died before the 1810 census. Thomas2 married
Leah Holland who died October 1812. She was a member of the
Red Banks Primitive Baptist Church in Pitt Co. Children of
Thomas2 and Leah Holland: Euphamia, Ellen died before 1812
and James2. James1 died prior to 1816 in Hyde Co. His estate
account of sales was dated December 19, 1816 in Hyde Co. The
brothers were referred to as Thomas2 of Pitt Co. and James
of Hyde Co. James appears with Leah Unknown selling land in
1770 in Hyde Co. It appears both brothers married women named
Leah.
Lake area Hyde Co.
North Carolina ca. 1820-1835
James and Leah had 2 sons. Joseph was born about 1770 in Hyde
Co. N.C. who died after 1816 in Hyde Co. Children of Joseph
English are Gideon b abt 1800 and Bryan b1805 d1835 Hyde Co.
Gideon is listed on the 1820 census and has a son and 4 girls.
The other son was Solomon b1775 who was the administrator
of James estate.
