Overview
Haywood English was born to mother Sarah between 1795-1800 in North Carolina or Virginia. He died in 1868, likely in Habersham Co., Georgia. He was married in 1822 to Sarah 'Sallie' McCracken in Habersham County, but it is possible he had an earlier marriage. In the 1850 Rabun Co., GA census we find an Ivory English living next to James M. English, son of Haywood. Nearby is another son, John Marion English. Ivory remained in Rabun County through the 1860 census and is found in Franklin County by 1870.
Haywood English is believed to have a brother named Wesley English who is found in the 1880 household of Haywood's son James.
