In the 1841 census Jane is living at home with William & Betsy and is
employed
as a Card Feeder, probably in the same woollen mills as Elizabeth. By 1851 she
is married to Richard Thomas Wakeham and living next door to Elizabeth &
James.
At this point she has 2 children, Jane, aged 4 and William, aged 1.
Jane & Richard and family emigrated to the US in April 1857, eventually
settling in Port Huron, Michigan. They had 10 children as follows

When Richard bought his family to Port Huron, shortly after it was incorporated
as a city in 1857, he purchased 10 acres of land in Port Huron Township. They
lived in a log cabin in the area called 24th Street, west side of Port Huron
and south of Black River.
Jane is buried in the Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron, Michigan, USA with her
sons, William & John. The monument reads

"John C 1858-1938 and his wife, Mary 1861-1929"
Jane's obituary in the Port Huron newspaper is written by "A Friend" and reads
"She was a regular attendant of the Baptist Church and had the power of
attaching people to her by winning their affection. She was ever modest and the
sweet dignity of her womanly nature shone out in all acts. The memory of such a
woman is blessed. Our hearts beat responsive to the grief of those who knew her
best, and sorrow that we shall see her face and listen to the sweet sound of
her voice no more on earth." The obituary also notes that Jane had "one sister
living in Eagle Harbour, New York, and 3 brothers, one in New Jersey and two in
England."
