Welcome to the site that explores my branch of the Emmons Family. Here you will find links to
family trees tracing my direct line back to Jonathan Emons1,
a 16th century basket-maker from Surrey, England. The superscript on a name
shows the generation of the individual, starting with Jonathan. His son Thomas
Emons2 with his wife Martha were the first to immigrate to the
New World, where we find him admitted as an Inhabitant of Newport, RI on
March 20th, 1638.
The direct line of descent that this web site will center on is: Jonathan1, Thomas2, Samuel3, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel5, Samuel6, Samuel7, Nathaniel8, Robert9, Hamilton10, Robert11, Hamilton12, Robert13, Martin14. The three box charts linked below show this line, with all siblings and their spouses in each generation, and most other descendants for the most recent generations. I'm new at this game, and hope to add more collateral and affine branches to the ever-growing ances-tree (just trying to add a bit of geniality to genealogy, folks). My principal sources have been the book "The Emmons Family Genealogy, From 1639 to 1905" compiled by Edward Neville Emmons, Syracuse, N. Y., 1905, supplemented by family records for recent times, and for the first two generations the information in Dot's Page, http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~dotspage/, along with informative correspondence with Dot herself. |
