My gr. gr. grandfather, John T. Rose was son of Samuel Rose and Sarah "Sally" Freeman.
Samuel was born in Cherokee Nation, close to the Blue Ridge, somewhere in N. Carolina. He claimed 1/2 Cherokee blood, according the the Indain Claim Papers, Eastern Cherokee 1906 Act, claimant was grandson, John Miller #7591, this was a rejected application.The affidavit of John Miller states: my grandfather, Samuel Rose was born in the Cherokee Nation close to Blue Ridge, somewhere in N..C.; my grandmother, Sarah "Sally" Freeman was born in Cherokee Nation, North Carolina, she claimed 1/4 Cherokee blood.

It may also refer to Blue Ridge, a commnunity in present day Henderson County, North Carolina. Henderson County lies on the South Carolina border and was part of the Indian Lands.

This deed of conveyance made and entered into this 5th day of November 1895 by and between Thomas M. Rose of the first part and Sarah Hollensworth Eugene Rose Whitfield Rose and Sarah A. Rose his wife and James Rose and Fanyann Rose his wife and Lilly Embree and John Embree her husband and Jose Phillips one Share and Charls Phillips her husband of the second part Witnesseth that for and inconsideration of the sum of seventy dollars in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the parties of the second part have granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth convey unto the party of the first part a certain tract or parcel of land known as a part of the Samuel Rose tract of land lying and being and being on Horselick Creek in Jackson County and State of Kentucky all of their right title and interest in and to said tract or parcel of land unto the party of the first part his heirs and assigns the said James Rose reserves his interest in the coal on said tract of land and also his interest in merchantable timber on the land the parties of the second part will forever warrant and defend their title to said tract or parcel of land unto the party of the first part his heirs and assigns. In Testimony whereof the parties of the second part have hereunto set their hands and seals this the day and date above written.
